Job SummaryInformation Technology Services (ITS) is dedicated to a constructive, team-orientated environment, gathering varied perspectives, sharing knowledge, and building effective partnerships that enable our partners to achieve their goals by advising, providing solutions, and delivering service excellence in alignment with the University’s mission and goals. Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations, the Security and Application Analyst is responsible for analysis activities assigned to address new and emerging requirements for security operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for analysis activities assigned to address new and emerging requirements for security operations, including network security, application security, end user device security and Identity and Access Management for the University and ACORN.Provides investigation, research, review, and auditing methods and processes to architecture and design, construction and commissioning services for security, and related services function that are highly available, flexible, highly functional, reliable, and secure for students, staff, faculty and organizational clients.Plans and develops, on an ongoing basis, all security functions and major services including all transformation planning for data centers and internet based (cloud) computing and end user computing.Responsible for the life cycle management, configuration, and operation of security applications across central system and network infrastructure, Identity and Access Management and edge devices.Monitors security services for events or incidents and determines the correct course for investigation and remediation of potential issues.Reviews and maintains threat intelligence awareness and appropriate response. Documents playbooks and collaboration standards or processes for operational capacity.
NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, plus five years’ experience in information security systems and implementation, preferably in a complex, multi-platform IT (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. A Master’s degree in Internetworking or Computer Science would be considered a strong asset. Industry certifications in Cisco networking and Microsoft software systems are preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others is key. Flexibility and creative problem-solving skills are vital to this role.
